The Grange Park area, located in south-west Loughborough, is a growing residential development with no local facilities – everything is a car drive away. The original planning application (P/09/0233/2) for the estate included a local centre comprising flats over shops, place of worship, health centre, community hall and associated parking. The original planning application for the community hall was conditionally agreed on 19-06-2009, which expired in 2012.

Unfortunately, the delivery of these was dependent on interested parties raising the funds to build and run them.

In 2012, a feasibility study and community needs assessment study, were commissioned. These were published in 2013, and demonstrated that there is demand for a local centre to provide a venue for sports clubs, children’s groups, evening classes, etc.

In response to this need, a group of local residents formed the Grange Park Centre (GPC) group, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, committed to engaging with local residents and securing funding to enable the delivery of this much needed centre.

In August 2016, the aims and objectives of the Grange Park Centre were reviewed and a new leadership team appointment.

This group is now building links between the communities of Shelthorpe, Grange Park and Haddon Way with the shared vision of creating a community centre as a shared space for everyone. We believe there are many needs within the community that the community centre will help facilitate. This takes us to the present day, and Our Project.
